Come unplug and share an analog photography experience with us in Ménilmontant. Learn how to use a film camera, experiment, explore the neighborhood and its street art, and leave with your very first photos on film.

We start around breakfast in our shop. For one hour, we’ll gently guide you through the basics: how a film camera works, mastering exposure, and shooting with confidence. The goal is to learn without stress, in a relaxed setting.

Then, camera in hand, we head out on a photo walk focused on street art and street photography. Guided by Thibaut Piel, passionate photographer, printer, manager of the darkroom Le Sel, and photowalk expert, we’ll wander the streets of Belleville for two hours discovering its iconic works. Thibaut will share his advice and perspective to help you experiment, compose, and capture the unique atmosphere of the neighborhood.

All equipment is provided: camera and film included.

After the workshop, we take care of developing and scanning your images, which you’ll receive digitally for free. You can even pick up your negatives afterwards—who knows, you might want to make some fine art prints!

PHOTOWALK WITH

THIBAUT PIEL

Thibaut Piel is a self‑taught photographer with more than nine years of experience. Early on he found his way into analog photography, especially portrait work rooted in traditional techniques.

He often works with an Afghan box, a handmade camera built around a vintage lens and chemical process. That practice took him to Brazil, the USA, Canada, and Portugal, and grounded his approach in hands‑on, thoughtful image making. After years on the road he returned to France and opened his darkroom Le Sel in the basement of our space.

Teaching and sharing how he sees and works comes naturally to Thibaut. On our photowalks he focuses on helping you feel confident with your camera, understand film settings with clarity, and enjoy shooting.
