A film format corresponds to the size and type of film a camera uses. The most common formats are 35mm, medium format (120/220), large format (4x5, 8x10), and integral instant film such as SX-70 or Polaroid 600.

We offer 35mm cameras (including compact, rangefinder and SLR models) as well as medium format ones. We also carry instant cameras like the Polaroid SX-70 series, which use integral film and produce a fully developed print directly from the camera within minutes.

From flea markets to collectors, passing by friends and private sellers, we carefully handpick our cameras from different sources. We prefer to select used vintage cameras to give them a second life, although we sometimes sell new cameras that come in their original box.

Polaroid released several versions of the classic SX‑70 during its original production run, and while they all share the same iconic folding SLR design, each variant adds or changes a few features: 

SX‑70 Land (Original): this is the base version of the SX‑70 that started it all. It offers fully manual focus through the rangefinder system built into the viewfinder and all the classic design elements that made the SX‑70 famous — folding body, glass lens, automatic exposure, and the split‑image focusing aid. 

SX‑70 Land Alpha: the Alpha models took the original design and added a few practical upgrades. These include strap lugs, a tripod socket, and often a slightly more refined focusing setup. It’s essentially a more user‑friendly version of the original without changing the core shooting experience. They’re are sometimes referred to as Alpha 1, but functionally they’re the same family. 

SX‑70 Land Sonar: the Sonar version builds on the Alpha improvements by adding an ultrasonic autofocus system. That means instead of focusing manually, the camera uses sound waves to measure distance and pre‑focus for you. You can still focus manually if you want, but the Sonar system makes it easier to grab sharp shots quickly, especially in dynamic situations. 

SX-70 film was originally made for the SX-70 camera and has a lower light sensitivity (ISO 160). That means it needs bright light to expose properly. 600 film is faster (ISO 640), which makes it more versatile in everyday light (indoors, outdoors, mixed lighting) without relying as much on flash or tripod.

The conversion recalibrates the camera’s exposure control so it measures and times the shutter for 600 film sensitivity. Internally we access the exposure circuitry and adjust it so the shutter closes at the right moment for correct exposure with ISO 640 film. The viewfinder, focusing system, and shooting experience stay true to the SX-70 design, just adapted for 600 film.

No. The conversion adjusts the camera’s exposure and metering system for 600 film only. After conversion the camera is calibrated specifically for ISO 640 film and cannot be switched back to SX-70 film.
